Horror! The end of the Mar school hols
NOOOOoooooo! I barely started to enjoy the vacation, and it's about to end.
My kids' school bags lie untouched since they returned home on the last day of Term 1 (I pray there is no leftover food inside).
School shoes - thank goodness they've been washed.
Homework - I don't know!
Spelling - No idea.
Am I feeling lousy? Yea, kinda. Why did I not check their bags for homework or pack for term 2 yet? I think, I deserved the school vacation as much as they did too!
During the school term, Ashton had almost 1-2 tests weekly (something they call AMODES) and it's graded. Both the boys had 1-2 spellings weekly too (EL and/or CL). This meant weekly drilling by me too. It's kinda stressful and pressing not just for the kids, but for me (and the gramps too!).
So when the last day of the term came, the kids and the adults both just turned on the "HOLIDAY MOOD". I wonder, perhaps I should have insisted all homework, preparation and packing be done before the school holidays began. But I was exhausted too! Plus there were just too many attractive holidays events and activities I wanted the kids to enjoy with me. In fact, I have yet to bring them to enjoy the entire list I intended.
Holidays should be all fun and play, especially when the school term is so taxing! I do hope that the boys can pick up speed on their own this upcoming term, even though no prep work has been done whatsoever.
I guess what matters is that we are all happy and spent good family time, yea? This is one of the few times their Dad managed to set aside time and flew back to SG to spend the entire week's vacation with the kids. I try to remind myself that learning isn't always about books, and I'm glad my kids learnt abit of entrepreneurship this hols from their booth at Sentosa Kidz Flea, whilst the boys went on to pick up some outdoor skills like outdoor cooking, camping (yea, they had a 2D1N Dad and son camp with their school) and fishing! The boys even had to do a beach cleanup before break-camp.

Tomorrow's all we've got left of the eventful weeklong vacation. Too short, I say. And the next sprint comes again.
